On Thursday, 6 August 2026 a unicycle triathlon will take place as part of UNICON 22. All UNICON 22 participants – competitors and non-competitors alike – who are able to swim 300 m are eligible to take part.

It is the responsibility of the participants – or, for minors, of their legal guardians – to assess whether their swimming ability is sufficient to take part.

Format 1:15 or 75 (minutes). Heats are seeded by estimated time – please be realistic. Guideline: swim 6–12 min, unicycle 20–35 min, run 10–16 min, plus the two transitions.

A muni with a large wheel diameter is recommended. All unicycles are permitted.

I have read the race information and take part at my own risk. The course is not closed to traffic, road traffic regulations apply. Helmet, gloves and closed shoes are mandatory on the unicycle course.

Key points from the race information

Swim: any stroke, no wetsuits. Start in the water, 6 lengths (3 out, 3 back), touch the wall at every turn. 5 participants start per lane.
Unicycle: helmet, gloves and closed shoes are mandatory. The course is not closed to traffic, road traffic regulations apply. Tight corners, short steep climbs and steps at one point – sections you do not ride may be run. Drafting is permitted.
Run: from transition area 2 along a gravel path to the turnaround and back.
The unicycle must be pushed or carried to the start line – mounting is only allowed behind the ground marking. At the end of the ride it must be pushed or carried back to the transition area.
